Nord Electro 2 bricked 😢

Sad story - I tried to update my Electro 2 to OS 3.04, to access extra piano sounds that have been released since I bought it.
I followed the instructions on the website and updated the OS successfully. I downloaded all the available sounds from the website and unzipped them.
I installed the Nord Electro Tool software and followed the instructions. I saw the samples I had currently loaded into the sound slots. I deleted the acoustic piano currently on the Electro (which I had downloaded some years back) to make space for trying the new ones.
I then started transferring one of the new pianos into a slot - it started doing it, then said ERROR and I can't quite remember what else it said, but there were no options to gracefully cancel the process, it was just hung.
I turned the keyboard off and on, and now it says eL then says 3.0 and flashes 4 times, but nothing else lights up, and it makes no sound.
So it appears to be bricked, and doesn't make a sound or generate MIDI information.
I contacted the old UK distributor, who told me that the new distributor is now Headline Audio, and that they based in Milton Keynes, which a while away from London without a car.
I've not contacted them yet, but I just wanted to ask if anyone knows whether this sounds like a problem they might be fixable/worth fixing?
I'm assuming that it would involve some sort of tool capable of reflashing the Nord chip with a working OS, but I have no idea if that's a thing.
Should I try and get it fixed, sell it for parts, or just dispose of it?
Many thanks for your help in advance
Mark
