Electro 4 Midi/Mac OS Blocked

Hi, folks!

New here...just got an Electro 4. Sorry if this is just like other posts, but here goes. I have a Mac with Sierra OS. My Nord will not put out MIDI data. I've checked other keyboards that work, so it's not my interface (MOTU4) or the cable. I was trying a factory restore, BUT the installer will not install. I downloaded it, but when I open, or try to, the icon has a lockout symbol on it, and tells me that the Nord installer is not compatible, and needs to be updated by Nord...though it's the most recent one, I think...v1.22.

So, No midi out, and cannot update. Good god why is everything so difficult? Thanks in advance AND I'm game to pay folks who are willing to walk me through a successful process!

Sorry folks, the Mac OS is SONOMA 14.5...not Sierra!

For OS update you have to connect the NE4 via USB to the Mac, not via MIDI and the Motu; then also check the MIDI settings on NE4 i.e. if interface is set for USB and channel is not "off"'. (See NE4 manual, MIDI menu section and OS update section)

Well, that update goes back to 2018. As far as I heard, MacOS systems may be picky when programs and OS versions don't match. Sofrware generations need to match at least approximately. Might be easier to find someone with a Windows computer and try it with that one: Downwards compatibility is high on Windows systems.

That app is probably 32 bit so it can only run up to Mac OS Mojave. As FZiegler suggested, better use a Windows computer or an older Mac to perform the update.

The updater app is 32-bit Intel only and will no longer run on Sonoma. Mojave 10.14 was the last version that supported 32-bit intel.

Are you sure you've explicitly set the Electro 4 to transmit MIDI via USB? It's in the MIDI menu.
