Hi all,
I'm a relative E6D newbie seeking help with a question about LIVE MODE:

I presume that just as you can re-name programs (using SHIFT/STORE AS) it is possible to re-name live mode programmes (so that instead of "Live A1", for instance, I can re-name that as "B3 mellow" (for example). While the manual doesn't explicitly confirm this, everything suggests that should be possible. When in live mode, when I press SHIFT/STORE AS, the screen says 'STORE LIVE AS..Unnamed Live' and just as with programs, you can select the letters you want. But then when I try to store the result, the screen defaults back to 'LIVE A1'.

I feel sure I'm being thick here and missing something obvious, but I've tried everything I can think of. Or perhaps I'm wrong, and LIVE MODE programs always remain just LIVE A1, LIVE A2, etc?

Any help with this would be very gratefully received!

live mode are not stored programs. They are temporary locations that can have anything in them and are not permanent. Naming them in this context doesn't make any sense.

so short answer is no, you can't name live mode slots.

On my Stage 2 it is possible to save a program from a live slot into a regular program location…not sure if that would work for you SteveW. I think the way to do this involves the final step in the “save as” process. The key move is to exit live mode during that step. Hope that helps!

Many thanks for your replies. Cgrafx - yep, I appreciate that Live Mode are not programs in themselves, but since you can copy programs into them, it did seem to make sense that you could re-name them, not least because the display implies that you can do so when you copy a program into a live mode position. Clearly not - so thanks for pointing out that I was simply wrong about that.
