Stage EX MIDI USB interface into garageband??

I know you cannot use the EX over USB as a controller into programs, but can you use a MIDI USB interface, and if so will any interface work? Am trying to create sheet music of arrangements into the music writer.

Answered my own question by buying an inexpensive MIDI to USB in/out cable and it seems to work fine.
