So Bought a Nord piano 5 over a year ago but now the my piano sounds are quite strange. I've attached how the soft grand and then the White grand sound on my headphones and interface - very muffled with the soft grand and very off tune with the White Grand. Any thoughts?

Have you maybe connected the NP5 Headphone OUT and OUT L instead of OUT L/R to your sound card (can happen and sound results muffled)?

PS: welcome to NUF, as your first post here maybe a salutation before jumping to ask for help wouldn't have been such a bad idea ? :-)

Check all of your cables and connections.

Sounds normal to me. The Soft Grand is very dull and muffled, that’s exactly how it sounds. And I don’t hear that the White Grand is out of tune.
Are your EQ setting flat/zero?

Not exactly a ringing endorsement of the sample Clavia is currently flogging on their homepage :)

"With its warm, mellow and gentle sound, the Soft Grand adds a unique new character to the Nord Piano Library."

Uh-huh. Well worth the four-year wait for a new Grand sample, I'm sure.

Definitely wasn't what I was expecting. Sounded different on the demo on the Nord page!

Hi, do you mean that one year ago, your piano sounds were different ?

I bought my Nord Piano 5 last week and I have the same feeling, on my monitors and headphone. I haven't tried to record it yet.

I have no idea what your settings are. I usually don't play the samples the way they are by default - they are meant to be processed, and the default sound is not meant to be the best possible but rather the most flexible one. Which of course will leave the responsibility for the sound to you - not the manufacturer.

Nevertheless the White Grand sounds a bit surprising to me - very soft indeed. May depend on the velocity of your fingers. Or I got too much used to the sound I have when applying bright mode and a bit of EQ.
