How to modify velocity settings?

Hi,
I use my electro 3 as a midi keyboard to compose music in Logic Pro X. For years this has been fine, but one day the velocity sensitivity stopped working. So now, however I play, the velocity is fixed and each note has the same strength, sounding fake and awful. I've searched and asked and tried to fix the issue through Logic but nothing and no advice seems to work. Now I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the keyboard itself. I've replace the midi cable and the problem remains. Any advice? It's totally destroying my piano based compositions.

Many thanks,

Jo

It can be an issue of Logic, it cannot be something with the MIDI cable, it can be something with the NE3 settings and it can be an issue of the keys (sensors or cable) themselves.

First thing: Do you use piano sounds or samples. If the latter: What's the setting of the SampEnv/ClavEQ button in the piano section? You can toggle between 4 attack and velocity settings. The VelDyn LED needs to be lit.

As far as internal compression is concerned, this shouldn't have anything to do with your Logic behaviour, I think.

I wonder if on NE3, if you have only the Organ section active and High Trigger, you get a fixed velocity also on MIDI (which would make sense to record exactly how NE3 manages it internally).

As FZiegler suggested, try to set NE3 on a Piano program with the right velocity curve, check that it plays right on NE3 and then retest with Logic

If the previous advice don't fix it, I know a very easy way to find out if your NE3 is sending dynamic or fixed velocities:
A MIDI monitor app like MidiView. It will show you the exact velocity values, and if they reflect your playing, your NE3 is bot the problem. I can't remember if Logic has an equivalent plugin or feature, but MidiView is free and easy to use.

Also: What is the MIDI signal path, i.e. how is the MIDI going from Nord to Mac?
