Just as stated.. I'd like to recreate this patch https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=hDSr7IWWE4g
The song is Space Race by Billy Preston. I have a week to do so. Any help or a good starting point would be MUCH appreciated.
Thanks in advance. :thanks: Cal

Hi Cal,

that‘s a nice one, I have never heard it before. First key sound is a clav with wah wah pedal, then I‘d say a Mini Moog comes in with a standard saw wave but heavy use of the wah wah again plus the filter envelope opening a bit delayed, slowly, plus the modulation wheel which makes the „vibrato“. Having heard all, I hope you don‘t have to play the brass section as well - that would be tough with two hands only.

Good luck, I hope you‘ll find a Stage user with a ready to run programme.

Cheers from Germany

The Clav has heavy compression on it as well as the up front wah action.

Not with my instrument now but here's how you get the synth lead: (Tasten-Berts advice gets you close but not quite)
- Single saw wave, nothing fancy
- MONO or LEGATO mode
- A bit of glide (2/10 or more)

- Fair bit of resonance on an LP M filter
- Filter cutoff to 100 Hz
- Filter ENV modulation to around 4

[EDIT] on the recording, the Envelope Modulation amount is adjusted, by hand but you'll get similar results by morphing filter cutoff freq:

- Map filter cutoff to a morph source (recommend CTRLP)
- Required morph range is up to you, maybe up to 2 kHz

- Use "vibrato delay 1", (go to sound menu to adjust vibrato speed and depth if you need to)

- LFO frequency changes during the song
( - In the beginning it's something like 15 Hz (cricket effect))
( - Later it's slowed down to create a wobble)
- Map filter LFO to a morph source (recommend AT)

- AMP ENV
- attack = < 100 ms
- decay = sustain (full)
- release = 300 ms maybe

- MOD ENV
- attack = 300 ms
- decay = sustain
- release = 300 ms

I'm going to gamble and say that's super close to the original, but I don't know for sure until someone posts a demo of the result.

BTW, I like synthesizers...

Thanks.. I should have added that I only have to program and play the synth lead. We have 2 keyboard players in the band and horns.. I was asked to cover the synth because I have the Nord Stage 3. :)

Then luckily that's exactly what I spent my time on.

Did you try it and did it work?
