One shot samples

Hi,

I tried today to move some drum samples into my Nord Wave via the Nord Sample Editor. Unfortunately it didn't sound right because I couldn't get the samples to play like a "one shot sample". Is it possible to do that with Nord Sample Editor and a Nord Wave?

What is the symptom, does the sample repeat itself?

When creating the sample instrument, did you set the loop setting to "No Loop"?

Alternatively you could loop the silence at the end of a sample, but that's a bit of a hack.

I want the samples to play all the way through even if I don't hold down the key. Now it's only playing the sample for as long as I hold down the key. For example in EXS 24 in Logic there is a alternative for "one shot" that makes the sample play all the way through when you hit the key. Is that possible in Nord Sample Editor?

Have you tried setting a really long release?

Yep, release does this.

I would consider this a bit of a hack too, but if your sample is fairly short (and does not loop), you can fake playing a sample -without- an envelope with a really long release (45 sec is the maximum in the Wave) and nobody is going to notice your volume is going down slowly. It would be nice if the Wave could play samples one-shot, but it's not a sampler but a synth that happens to be able to use samples.
