Hi yall, im using a stage 2 88ha got it a while ago for the range of downloadable sounds for studio use, iv been through all the string sounds for it,
and although some a good, i feel thats all they are, good, i still keep going back to my AKAI Z4 sampler for massive string sounds, to me they are just fatter warmer clearer
and much more presence in the mix, it all subjective and ones own preffs i know, so to my question,
what is everyone else using for strings ? and if its other than the nord, why ?
i just want to get some comparisons going to put up against the z4/ to see what else is out there.

cheers all

Did you just check the samples or did you try to set up an entire programme including unison, FX, EQ etc.? I'm just playing live (no studio use) and usually don't look for orchestral-fat sound, but am quite fine with the Symphobia strings.

There are a lot of really nice string samples posted on this forum in the user samples area, search for user imacman.

Keep in mind that the Nord library has samples that are very old as well as some newer ones (like the Project Sam strings.)

I also have quite a few string samples taken from other hardware (Yamaha Montage for example) that I can load in, or use with my Prophet X which has string samples too. Plenty of choices. But many of the imacman strings are the best to my ears, in terms of ready-to-go Nord samples.
