Fixed Nord hum through guitar pickups.

Got tired of my NE5 and NE3 humming through my guitars pickups when I stood next to the keyboards. The hum comes from the transformer in the onboard power supply. No amount of shielding or grounding helped, even with humbuckers. I noticed that all the plus and minus voltages run through a single 10 pin IDE(IDC?) cable from the psu to the mainboard, so I removed the psu and made a longer cable. Put the psu is an aluminum amp chassis I had laying around and set it on the floor. I’m happy to say that my keyboard is not only dead silent, but I swear that the audio sounds better somehow. And I trust my ears after working a few years for mastering legend Bob Katz. I need to make it more gigworthy, but it’s a great fix. You listening, Nord?

Interesting. What distance between the humbucker and the North Electro are we talking about here? I have to get about 1 foot close to the keyboard so I can hear humming. The only way I would play this close is if I had to play Nord Electro and guitar at the same time...

It’s way more sensitive with a Strat or a Tele. I play keys and guitar on gigs. Sometimes I fade in chords from the Nord via sus and volume pedal during solos. It’s insane that the hum even exists in a unit of this caliber and price point. I play a LOT of fusions improv, if I want to play both at once I should be able to.
