Difference between Nord Triple Pedal and Triple Pedal 2

Hi,
Does anyone know how to tell me about the difference between the Nord Triple Pedal and the Triple Pedal 2 ?

I thought that only the new Triple Pedal 2 allowed to activate certain functions (tap tempo, pump effect, ...) but the p59 manual indicates that these functions are available whether its a Nord triple Pedal 1 connected to the Sustain Pedal jack or a Nord triple Pedal 2 connected to the triple Pedal jack !

So, why the big price difference between the two triple pedal?

In my eyes, the question should be: Why would Clavia offer two totally different pedal technologies for the NS4? And the most probable answer is: Because they are nice guys. If you already have a NTP1, you may use it with a NS4 again. And if you don't, you may switch to the newer technology directly.

Neither of the pedal units is made by Clavia themselves. The NTP1 and the NSP1 are made by Fatar - as well as the keyboard. But there have always been complaints about reliability (because of the cable?). The NTP2 and NSP2 both seem to be made by Kawai - with a totally different technology inside: They are both continuous pedals for the sustain part whereas the NTP1 only delivered 4 different values and the NSP2 was a simple switch.

Yes, for the moment, Clavia offers the same features for both triple pedals - only the single pedals differ in their capability. And probably the MIDI values will be different: continuous vs stepped (not confirmed yet). I have no idea what pedals will be supported on the long run (for NS5 maybe). Nobody will know. So I'm not sure what to recommend. As I do own a NTP1, it's not a question to me at the moment.

BTW the price difference seems to be higher in Europe than in America.
