Just ask, and you will get any rumour you want - first one for free.

No, seriously: There is probably nobody outside Clavia/Nord who would be able to tell you if there will be a Grand 2 at all. And they won't tell themselves. Traditionally, there haven't been leaks prior to publishing - I only remember one case with the Piano 5 which was shown on social media by a test person, and quickly removed some weeks before publicly announcing the instrument.

Which means you will need to make your mind about the instruments existing: Want/need them now or not? I can't answer your question if you don't tell a bit about your situation: Have you tested the instrument? How does it feel to you? What do you need it for?

The Grand that exists was interesting for me. With a fine velocity curve. A little bit too much diva for my use case, but probably quite nice for solo performing or playing at home. I'd consider it for advanced players who have great control over their keystroke: Already a light stroke gave considerable response.

I would be curious to try one to see if the action felt heavier and more substantial then what they have now. I played the NG again briefly in the Guitar Center while I was in there checking out a used CP4. They were asking too much for the Yamaha and I decided on not re-visiting it again. 10 year old DPs simply don't really stand the test of time. But even that less then desirable used CP4 action felt better to me then the NG new.

This would be something that I'd be interested in - imagine the Kawai MP11SE action with Nord Piano sampling engine. I did try the Nord Grand and I wasn't as impressed as when I played the Kawai MP11SE action. Yes, it is heavier and bigger, but what a feel when playing that keybed.

Here are some thoughts on the NP5 keybed

The Grand seems positioned to be a home piano, not a touring board. Something to compete with Yamaha's Clavinova line. Problem is they are wed to the red, and not everyone wants their living room to feature such a color bomb. If Nord had also offered this in black and walnut I'd wager they'd have sold a lot more of them.

Couldn't agree more Gambold. I'd have loved to have an option to buy Nord in black, but I guess it works well for them as marketing tool to balance the sales with only that decission. I hear reports that people could also touch some of the buttons unintentionally while playing the Nord Grand. It hasn't happened to me but I've only played it for few hours to be in a position to confirm that or not. Indeed, some good thoughts here for Nord PM team to take in for the second iteration of the Nord Grand.

Agree as well, having a piano black Nord Grand would make me think of getting it into my house as well, but not a red one - fine with red on stage though

I have a NG and have taken it out a couple times. Usually I use my MAudio hammer 88 and my iPad with Ravenscroft or Pure Piano or Korg/Ivory - just so much easier…

Didn’t someone here paint theirs gloss black? I thought I remembered that but not sure. You could also vinyl wrap it if the red doesn’t work to your liking.

As for a NG2 - does anyone know how well the NG1 worked from a sales perspective? I love mine, but it is primarily at home (inside a fake, glossy black, grand piano shell) and I imagine the Stage is a more popular option for Nord’s target audience. If so - I wouldn’t hold my breath for an NG2.

Yes someone did, but it’s not just about the wooden parts but also about the panel etc, not easy to paint all in black

The panel is black on mine…

But I house it in a glossy black “grand” shell…
