Stage 4 LFO async
Hi, I suspect the answer is no but asking just in case. In the Stage 4 synth is there a way to have the LFO on each voice free run without regard to other voices or do all the voices use the same LFO. As an example, if I'm moduling the filter cutoff with a triangle, one voice might be at the top of the triangle when another is at the bottom.
Thanks,
Cliff
Thanks,

You have 3 completely independent synthesizers on the Stage 4.

Thanks for your reply, @zippo. Given my example, how would you accomplish a sound where each note had a filter sweep independent of the other notes? I don’t think this is accomplished by layering sounds on top of each other.

Each voice and each note are not the same thing. Which are you asking about?

Re: Stage 4 LFO async
Sorry for the confusion, I forget that the terminology is different for the Nord Stage 4. Let's assume I'm using a single synth layer. For key pressed, I'd like the LFO to be independent of the other keys. This would result in modulation that wouldn't be in sync across different simultaneous notes, this is what you get with poly-mod on the Prophet V but there you are stealing an oscillator to use as LFO. If I had a slow triangle modulating filter cutoff, when holding a chord you would hear different notes get brighter/softer at different times compared to other notes.

Re: Stage 4 LFO async
Got it. unfortunately no, there isn’t any way to do that on the NS4, the architecture doesn’t support that sort of key to voice assignment. in the context of what your asking, each synth layer has a single LFO that will affect all the notes played from that layer.

Re: Stage 4 LFO async
Thanks, yeah - one LFO per layer. Unfortunate, because separate LFOs open up a world of cool sounds. On the other hand I think the NS4 synth engine is a quantum leap over the NS3 so I'll make do.
