I'm looking for a guitar sound close to the background guitar riff- trying to duplicate the attack is hardest- that runs through the verses. There is a isolated guitar track of the song on YT.

That's a tough one between the pick action and the guitar strings being dampened in different ways by the hand. I'd either start out with samples played for the specific part to get a head start, or try to get that effect with the MOD ENV Velocity so notes played lighter would sound more muted. The Decay for both MOD and AMP ENV would have to be played around with also. With the isolated guitar audio, you could try sampling a few notes to see how good they sound in playback and work from there. Here's an example if you wanted to sample riffs instead of individual notes.
