Advice on buying a new Nord Piano 5

Hi,
Thanks a lot for this great forum! This is my 1st post here, I have a few questions before buying the “Nord Piano 5” (88keys), I’m a big fan of Nord keyboards, I used to use the NS2 and NS3, but never owned one, I only have owned Kawai MP7, Roland RD700, and RD88. Now I’m willing to sell my RD88 and buy the NP5 which I believe is a great monster keyboard and it would suffice me as a jazz pianist.
• Can I control the NP5 with an external keyboard in order to use the Modulation Wheel and the Pitch Bend?
• Does the NP5 feature any micro-tuning to use custom scales?
• Is it true that the NP5 does not feature multi-layered velocity samples? I mean can I load a piano sample with multiple velocities? Do you think Nord company can make an updated OS for the NP5 that might feature that?
• Any idea about the new NP6 when it will be coming out? (sorry for this stupid question)
Thank you.

Hi

Hi Nordine, welcome to the forum!
I don't know about your first question, but papynico is surely right and the answer is no.
About the second: Unfortunately, there is no possibility for microtuning or different scales. This is a pity and I'd love to see Nord implement it at some point!
Concerning multilayered samples: Of course the .npno sounds offered by Clavia in their Nord Piano Library are multi-layered samples and you can load any and all of them into your Nord Piano (until piano memory is full

). All of these sounds are proprietary, and you can't create .npno files on your own unless you are a genius who can do reverse engineering. On the other hand, in the sample memory, where the .nsmp file format for sounds is used which you can use to load own samples (produced with the free Nord Sample Editor), no samples with velocity layers can be loaded.

Hi papynico,
you seem to read the posts on this wonderful forum through a translating service (Google translate probably). On its basic layer, the forum isn't multilingual but English speaking only. Could you please use a translating service for your answers, too, in order to get them into English, please? Most users won't understand French, though.
Usually, the results will be understandable.
BTW, I was looking into micro-tuning and historic temperaments, too. But if you listen more into the Nord piano sounds, you will see that they aren't fully tuned in equal temperament - they are the way they were sampled from a true piano. So it wouldn't make much sense to convert them into another tuning - it wouldn't match totally. So this would be more of an 'interesting' approach than really useful.

Here are your answers?
• Can I control the NP5 with an external keyboard in order to use the Modulation Wheel and the Pitch Bend?
No, it won't respond to those messages.
• Does the NP5 feature any micro-tuning to use custom scales?
No, it does not.
• Is it true that the NP5 does not feature multi-layered velocity samples? I mean can I load a piano sample with multiple velocities? Do you think Nord company can make an updated OS for the NP5 that might feature that?
The piano-like instruments are all multi-layer, using a proprietary format. The samples of horns, etc. are single layer, but can sound pretty good with envelope filtering, velocity, etc. User samples can come from just about anywhere. This is not likely to change for the NP5, as it would have to change for every Nord instrument. So not any time soon.
• Any idea about the new NP6 when it will be coming out? (sorry for this stupid question)
Not for a few years I think. NS4 just came out, so either the Wave or the Electro would be next in like.
