Hello,

I have a Stage 3 that I want for both playing and recording.

At home I have a pair of KRKs and a Focursite 2i2.

What's the best gear for achieving that?

Thanks!

Asking for 'the best' is problematic. You probably don't want the best publicly available for any amount of money, do you? So please, explain a bit more before expecting to get a reliable response.

What level do you want to achieve? How much money would you be willing to spend? What are you aiming for with your playing and your recording? Do you want to use your KRKs (which model) and the Scarlett (which generation)?

It should be possible to just connect the KRKs to the Scarlett's outs and the Stage to the Scarlett. You can use unbalanced or balanced cables for the KRKs, I think.

All good advice. When recording, I use a pair of inexpensive covered headphones, as you get very accurate sound in your ears for not much money.

So, there are 2 scenarios:

1.- I just play, with the PC Off. I want to get the sound out in the KRKs.
2.- I am making music, I want the Scarlet's audio to output to the KRKs, and the Stage to input into the Focursite to record.

The KRKs are the Rocket 5 from 10 years ago or so. Scarlett is the 2i2 and has around the same age.

I am planning to spend 300 EUR aprox. I am simple looking for the most simple option possible. If it requires more money because for instance, I need a more advanced audio interface or whatever I am okay with spending more.

Thanks

Even the 1st generation of the Scarlett 2i2 has direct monitoring (a switch on the fron panel) so it should work without computer attached: The KRKs should output the sound that's coming in through the Scarlett.

Check with the KRKs' manual if you can use balanced (TRS) cables.

For recording, I'd recommend headphones, too. Maybe a pair of over-ear headphones (like the DT-770 pro).

I have a audio interface and studio monitor like you. My Nord's outputs run into the audio interface and audio interface to the studio monitors. For just practicing without my computer turned on I have to turn on "Direct Monitoring" on my audio interface to hear the Nord thru my studio monitors. Your Focusrite must have a option for that. If not you'll have to run the Nord outputs directly into your studio monitors. I used to do it that way, but didn't like the sound as much as using a audio interface.
