FC7 Control Pedal Not working on D6

Hi - I have a brand new D6 and a brand new FC7 control pedal. The pedal is plugged in and is unresponsive. I went into the Settings and upped it to 10--
still not response (let alone a WAH) there is the letters NC next to the display where it says the pedal model is that something I need to eliminate and how? Is there an extra doo-hickey that I need to add to the output?
