Using Nord Sound Manager…

Hi, looking for a little help, please. I bought a Stage 3 88 a few years back when they first came out, and when I saw they had a recent price cut, I bought a second identical Stage 3. I want to load programs I’ve created from the older Stage into the new Stage. I’m retired, and my computer knowledge is hopelessly about 10 years behind.

I have a MacBook Air, and downloaded Sound Manager, and have been saving backups from my original Stage all along, and would like to load several banks of programs from these backups into the new Stage. Sound manager recognizes the new keyboard when connected, but won’t allow me to load programs into it. The backups show up as ‘greyed out’ when I try to access them.

Obviously I’m doing something wrong here, and the answer Is likely simple. Can somebody help me through this please? Thanks.

1st thing is to make sure both keyboards are using the same version of the firmware/OS.

When you turn on your Stage 3, the display reads the current OS version your unit(s) has.
As cgrafx explained both Stages need to have the same OS, in order to read/understand the information.

The lates OS is the v2.62. Makes sure both Stages are running on this OS, and do a complete backup of the ols Stage.
Your new Stage should now be able to read this backup.

Memory Protection on the new Stage to be turned OFF?

You are right, my original Stage 3 was on 2.54, new one 2.62.

Updating now and will try again, thanks!

OK, both Stages on 2.62, and created current backup of original Stage and named and saved on desktop. Is there a way to load only one bank of programs into the new Stage from the saved backup?

It appears I can completely restore the entire contents all at once, but not single programs or banks of programs only.

Also, since I now have two of the same instrument, is there a way to ‘name’ the two keyboards, so I can differentiate between them when backing up, restoring, etc, when using Sound Manager?

Hi, if I recall correctly, I do not think you can use more that one instrument at a time with the sound manager.

This is correct, you can only connect to a single Nord keyboard. You will need to go back and forth between them-

Rename the backup file to .zip and unzip it, you'll see individual Programs and Samples
