Newbie question

Hi :)

My new nord 88 piano should arrive tomorrow and i had a few questions that the music store could'nt really answer.

I brought the Nord mainly for the quality of piano sound, and at the moment i use a Yamaha M08 Synth. What i was wondering, is: i use garage band for its great sounding piano patches/sounds VIA MIDI! and i use the on board digital bell piano sound from the yamaha and over lay the two sounds together - so in garage band i record one track of PIANO MIDI and one track of AUDIO WAV as digibel (At the same time) and it sounds great. - Can i do the opposite with the NORD ie: Use the piano sound from the nord and record to garage band as AUDIO/WAV and use a Garage Band sound (MIDI) to play/layer with it?

I hope this makes sense.
Thank you :)

Hello yew2533,
Welcome to the forums.
Yes.
Just remember to set the Nord Piano for a USB-MIDI channel.
This parameter has 32 possible settings:
1 thru 16 as normal 5 pin MIDI
USB1 thru USB16 as MIDI over USB

Also be sure to tell GB which USB MIDI to look for (Nord verses Yamaha)

Cheers, Hanon

I'm sure that you will be pleased.
I believe that it's the best stage piano for the money.
I hope that you will record something for us, I'd love to hear it.
Cheers, Hanon
