And so, October…

Clavia has about a month to get a new Stage or Electro on the market for the holiday season. Preferably both. If not, they will enter 2023 as a maker and seller of vintage keyboards - their own.

I’ve been waiting to buy my first Stage for some time now. I’m not going to spend $4500 on a six-year old instrument. I don’t want to turn to Yamaha or Korg, but like many others, I may have to.

Haven't been participating in that rumour industry for quite a time. But I start to get interested:

M1tsos reported a dialogue with a Nord representative who insinuated a new top line instrument with a good keybed (Stage w/ better keybed or Grand w/ more sound engines) within the next 5 months.

Others purported rumours about a new instrument for November/December. No idea where they got them from.

Ah yes, professional stage gear — the perennial family stocking-stuffer. ;-)

Though I'll grant you that a release in time for the end-of-year tax cutoff is probably a Good Thing™ for initial sales.

The nice thing about the constant stream of predictions is eventually one of them will be right.

The economy is getting bad, supply chain issues are still an issue, and other KB companies have been trimming down there product lines not increasing them. Sure it would be great if companies would annouce new products, but doing that kills sales of current products so companies can't afford to do that. Be nice if everything was as simply as Apple and every September people know a new iPhone and Apple Watch will come out, but they are consumer products that sell in the millions. Flagship keyboards are expense and don't sell in the millions so they have to keep quiet until right before launch date.

Well they certainly have been quiet. They didn’t even release a catalog last year, first time in a very long time for that to be a no-show. NAMM was just embarrassing, watching their Artists gig on the exact same equipment that had been at the last five NAMMs. And no announcements of anything…..it’s unclear why they even showed up at an annual event whose chief purpose is to announce new products.

Problem with quiet is that the market drifts away from you. You need to stay engaged so your customers do too. It’s a tango. Sure, when this new fabled Stage is finally released and actually on shelves sometime in the next 10-20 months, the die-hards and gatekeepers will cheer. But the hoorays will be a lot quieter than they could have been. And that’s a quiet no one wants.

Please @Gambold don't complain about your next stage, I've been waiting for the Nord Pedal Keys 28 for so many years

I’m still holding out hope for a new Electro 7 HP. I’m not in a rush, but would like to to refresh my stage setup. But I have been tempted, as I wrote a while back about the Yamaha YC73.

We will hopefully soon see.

That's exactly what I think too. I would like to buy Electro HP but I would be insane to spend such amount of money now for 5 years old instrument that is already outdated. Clavia must understand that they produce premium products so it should be always modern and uptodate. Hopefully they renew all linup because of 40th anniversary of Nord

I'm sure they will release something big to celebrate 40 anniversary like they did 10 years ago (NAMM is in April but will they really wait so long...?). But personally I'm a sucker for Electro HP
