Electro 6 to DAW connection

Hello,
I use my Electro 6D as a midi keyboard with my DAW (Cubase).

How can I set up the Nord to use the sounds of the Electro rather than a VSI from the DAW?

I did manage this with a Korg where the midi from the daw was sent through the keyboard and then recorded the audio out signal.

The Nord is not picking this up even with Local control off?

Is there anybody who can describe how I can set this up with the midi channels and audio lines?

Many thanks for your help :)

Regards,

Hi, check the MIDI Global Channel setting on NE6, could be set to Off + check chapter 9 (MIDI) on NE6 manual for more general information.

PS: NE6 has USB MIDI but no USB Audio, so for audio you need to connect NE6 L/R outputs to an audio card, if you need to record audio.

Of course, you may record directly from audio-out to the audio device of your computer (audio track within Cubase). You can also use a combination of MIDI track + audio track within Cubase to record MIDI and audio at the same time. Then, you are able to adapt the MIDI track, play it back to your Electro and record the audio track anew.

Thank you FZiegler and Maxpiano. Really appreciate your input.

I can record the midi "instrument" track, but it does not playback through the Nord.
Not sure if it my Cubase settings (INPUT - All Midi; OUTPUT - All Midi) which is causing the confusion.

Any input on how to route the Electro with the DAW would help.
I am sure it is a "stupid" mistake from my side. But very frustrating.
Many thanks :)

I suggest you try to set the track exactly to the MIDI Device of your NE6 and channel = Global channel of NE6, both in INPUT and OUTPUT
