Hi everyone,
I recently bought a stage 3 after owning (and intensively using) an electro 3 for years, and I absolutely love it.
There is just one thing that bugs me - I play in a lot of cover bands that play modern music, and for some sounds I love the 'slam' character that the nord compressor can give the sounds. But I haven't been able to find out how to adjust the level of a preset / program post-compression on the stage, in the same way as the 'gain' knob does on the electro. This makes the compressor on the stage practically unusable for me, because you're not able to balance compressed sounds with other presets, and compressed sounds will always be much louder than non-compressed ones. I would like to use my compressor for character, not to brickwall everything as close as possible to 0dB. Does anyone recognise this problem, or have solution?
cheers,
Ruben

Re: Post-compressor preset level
This felt like a huge problem at first, but I found that if you star by cranking the compression amount (to 10), and pull back the source volumes, you can get lots of compression with lower output. Seems like the compression amount knob is not just an input gain control, but also lowers the threshold. Works well enough for me.
PS. I would still really want a threshold control (although I know this will never happen). Just a shift+knob combination would have been a viable aolution.

Re: Post-compressor preset level
Hi and welcome to NUF, have you tried to use the Utility -> Prog Level feature?

Re: Post-compressor preset level
Yeah, but that just lowers the levels of all the sound sources before they go into the compressor...maxpiano wrote:Have you tried to use the Utility -> Prog Level feature?
Interesting, this calls for some further experimentation! I agree, a dedicated treshold or post-compression gain control would be huge!Elias wrote:This felt like a huge problem at first, but I found that if you star by cranking the compression amount (to 10), and pull back the source volumes, you can get lots of compression with lower output.
