Leave it on? Or turn it off?

I've been wondering if i should leave my Nord on during the time after soundcheck and the beginning of the gig.... it is sometimes around 4 hours while the opening band sets up, does soundcheck, house opens, opening band plays, tears down, intermission and then we go on.

If i turn it off, i feel like I risk a nightmare surprise right before we go on if for some reason it doesn't boot up (it always has). But if i leave it on, it gets hot and it seems like excessive and unnecessary wear and tear that might shorten the life of the keyboard or some of its components like the screen.

What is best practice for touring musicians?
What does Nord recommend?
What all has been your experience?

I always switch it off between sound checks and the start of the gig, never had any of my Nords not booting up.

I even shut it down for a break in the middle of a gig: monitors first, then instrument, like you've learned it. At least if I move away from the instrument. And verify the transpose button of the MIDI keyboard after resuming.

When stuff is up and running, I leave it up and running until I'm done playing.

Personally if after soundcheck, turn it back off, then will switch it back on before the setlist (right before show starts) and prolly leave it on until the end of the show.

Prolly best to address what's your basis that the Nord will suddenly not want to boot up if you switch if off?

I leave everything switched on the whole event. Never thought about not doing so. No asking the sound guy „am I muted?“, no cracking noise.

Cheers

I don't have a basis for unexpected issues with my Nord -- just crowdsourcing this forum and hearing what other people's experience has been.

Having read the responses so far, i'm inclined to turn it off after soundcheck. And then back on when resetting the stage after the opening act. The lines will still be muted and it will give me a bit of time to feel assured everything is stable again. And if not, there will be time to hold the stage until it gets worked out.

It is interesting that there seems to be pretty much a 50/50 split in the answers so far.

The issue has been raised in the past. Check this thread out, and especially wtibbit's answer:
