TOGGLE sample key behaviour
Hi Legends,
I've done some searching in here and I'm surprised this isn't a bigger issue. Why is there no TOGGLE (one press starts sample, second press stops sample) mode in the sampler? Currently the player needs to hold down the key (or use the sustain pedal) in order for the sample to keep playing, (GATE mode). But this is counter intuitive in a performance situation, it means you're either loosing one hand to keep the sample playing, OR loosing the use of the sustain pedal.
Yep, I get that a Nord is not an MPC or Ableton, BUT it seems like such a simple software feature, and would have very real and very cool application in a live gig situation!!!!!
It would be amazing for example, to assign the very top note of the keyboard to a drum loop, press once then be able to play along with both hands, press again to stop the loop!!!
Please give us a TOGGLE!!!!!!!
Rant over.
Cheers
Ben

Re: TOGGLE sample key behaviour
That's doable and has been done.. People have made a Superstition program, Styx Too Much Time On My Hands, Bon Jovi... Those are a few that I can name off the top of my head that I've downloaded here or Nord User Sound dot com. No sustain pedal needed.

Re: TOGGLE sample key behaviour
Hello, and welcome to the Forum! With the Stage 3 you can press the Hold button in the synth section and then press the key with the drum loop. To stop the drum loop you would just press the Hold button again. Good luck!Vintagekeys76 wrote:...It would be amazing for example, to assign the very top note of the keyboard to a drum loop, press once then be able to play along with both hands, press again to stop the loop!!!

Re: TOGGLE sample key behaviour
Yeah that's a decent work around, still not as elegant as the toggle switch IMHO
Works fine with a single sample trigger, but running multiple gets tricky. Thanks!!
Is there anyway to disable a 'double trigger' of the sample? If you accidentally hit the key twice the sample will start playing over itself.
thanks team!!!

Hi, there is no such thing as a team on that user forum. It is not related to Nord and just administered by a few voluntaries.
If you wanted to contact Nord, just use the form on their web site. Or you add your desire to the inofficial wish list related to that forum and hope a Nord developer might have a look into that every now and then: post139510.html#p139510

Re: TOGGLE sample key behaviour
Putting the sample in mono mode will allow only one note to be played at a time. As needed for syncing back up with the drummer sometimes, you can re-trigger the beginning of a sample by simply hitting the key again when using KB Hold. Good luck to you!Vintagekeys76 wrote:...Is there anyway to disable a 'double trigger' of the sample? If you accidentally hit the key twice the sample will start playing over itself.

Re: TOGGLE sample key behaviour
OK, Schorsch, I totally agree.
I just suspected Ben (Vintagekeys76) - who just joined the forum - might have wanted to contact the Nord development team (saying "Please give us a toggle").
BTW, welcome to this wonderful place, Ben!

Yes, I understood that he just wanted to discuss this with us and get opinions (and probably solutions), seeing us as a team - but your recommendation to also propose this function to Nord is valid too
