Boss FV-50L volume pedal on the NS2

Hi!
I recently bought a brand new Nord Stage 2 HA88, wich I am really excited about, but I am still in the 'understanding process' with it!
I was trying to connect my FV-50L pedal from Boss, in order to use it as a volume or organ swell pedal...
It's slightly working (I hear a little difference when I press the pedal to its maximum), but when I try to set it via the 'Morph assign' section, it just doesn't seem to change anything at all.
Thank you very much in advance!!

Hi camille, the FV50L is a volume pedal, not an expression pedal; it operates on audio signals and it is not suitable for use with NS2 as ControlPedal or Swell Pedal (which require a pedal with a potentiometer connected to a stereo TRS jack)
For that you need either a FV500L, a volume pedal which includes also an auxiliary expression pedal output (I own 2 which I use with my NS2) , or the more traditional Roland EV5, EV7 or Yamaha FC7.

an "insert" cable or a trs-TS/TS "y" cable to the in and out of the pedal and then to the exp input.
I do the above with a Bo FV500l just because I have this cable and it works with a Nord Electro 3. Basically, an insert cable which is two 1/4 inch mono plugs that are typical Tip/SLeeve
connected to a single 1/4 inch TRS plug which would connect to the Nord.
Another way to think about it would be to call it a stereo splitter cable. Either way the cable is a reasonable expense that should accomplish what you're trying to do. You would connect the TS plugs to the same" channel" on the volume pedal.

Good idea! I had't thought a solution like this.
PS: hoping the resistance between Audio IN/OUT is in the same range (10-50KOhm) as an average Expression pedal, to avoid charging the NS2 inputs too much (if considerably lower....). Woulld be good to measure it before proceeding (just to be sure)

Most of the Nord boards have the ability to match the brand
of pedal to the board. Typically giving a choice between major
Manufacturer's. For example Ernie Ball, Yamaha, and Roland.
I'm not sure if there is any other brand as the others should be
similar to one of the above.

True, I know (ex NS and now NS2 owner

) but my point was that this is valid for Expression Pedals while using a Volume pedal to emulate an Exp as you suggested should be verified.
It is not the same if you connect a 10kOhm potentiometer or a 1KOhm one, in the second case you will be draining a current 10 times higher from the NS circuit that reads the input. Usually these inputs are designed with protections to avoid failure also in these cases, but I suggest to "check it before connecting" anyway.

thank you for your post!! it worked for me!
also the german musicstore: Thomann, writes that you can also use the fv50l as a expression pedal.
ciao

Thanks, man, it worked like a charm with my FV-50L and a VR-700. Making a cable is so much cheapier than buying another pedal.
