Hi,

I just stumbled across this webpage: https://www.keysamples.com/

They offer Nord samples in NKI format at a price of $50 each…and no information about the company etc. Very suspicious …. Does anyone has made any experience with this?

Little to no contact details, not very specific information on the products or the company itself. No mention of this website on http://www.nordkeyboards.com. I'm 99% sure Nord does not know about this yet, 100% sure they don't approve.

Yes that’s what I thought as well - would not give a single penny to them ….

Clicking on any link there might get you a lot more than you asked for.

Gotta love the stock photo of the keyboard nerd in his artsy shirt - and the misspelled "Explore" button. And this sentence is just strange:

>we create libraries so that keyboardists can improve their performance and consequently expand our fields of inspiration.<

That may actually be the only honest sentence in the whole site

Yeah, the copy on that site is riddled with bad editing.

These guys have been around before, a few years ago, though?

At any rate, Nord knows about them now. ;)

BTW: The marketing reminds me of Unison Audio and their "MIDI chord pack". Their marketing strategy seems to have stopped working now, because I don't get bombarded with their ads anymore. Anyway, if you have googled anything music production related in the last year, you will have encountered their atrocious marketing. If this "keysamples" scam was not a violation copyright, Unison would be even worse in every way.

Seriously, they sell you a bunch useless of MIDI files in folders. The price with discounts (AKA the normal price) is like 20€, but you get nothing in return.

There have been samples taken from Nord keyboards before (normally just sampling all of the presets in a given instrument.) I've also seen this for other brands (Roland, Yamaha, Korg mostly.) Not sure exactly what the legalities of this are, we see lots of samples of older digital synths floating around and no one seems concerned about that, is there a certain cutoff where this becomes acceptable?
In any case I doubt this product is going to sound as good as the real deal. They almost always don't, from what I've heard.

Most sample vendors explicitly forbid repackaging and selling of their samples. We'll see how Clavia proceeds in this case.
