Nightmare - the lack of increment and decrement buttons
I was doing a gig out of town, had rented a NS 1. Unfortunately, the dial wheel was broken during transport - and I discovered that I was stuck with the master settings (Extern channels, dual keyboard channels and so on). My setup depends on these settings, it was a nightmare do discover that these settings is not a part of full backups taken with Nord sound manager software. So with no inc and dec buttons, or even a shift/button combination or midi message to control these values, my only option was to get another NS. Luckily, this time we just managed to get one. But I have learnt a lesson - the NS 1 is extremely vulnerable - and so depending of this wheel to work. Anyone who knows if there are a solution to this? And is the NS 2 as vulnerable as NS 1, or have Clavia managed to address this vulnerability?

Re: Nightmare - the lack of increment and decrement buttons
I've never had such issue. Dial wheel was always perfect. Any of my nords was always perfectly reliable. It appears that NS2 has no program increment and decrement buttons.

But honestly I even don't use dial wheel for program change. I mostly use program buttons 1-5 (on Ex and Classic you have 4 programs per page).

They are 6, not 4, on the Classic/Ex.whitenoise wrote:.....I mostly use program buttons 1-5 (on Ex and Classic you have 4 programs per page).

Re: Nightmare - the lack of increment and decrement buttons
I understand the original question as being about settings in menus, not program changes. I don't think there is a way to change those without the dial. But according to the manual, they should be part of the backup on the NS2. I haven't actually tested it, though.

I believe the original question was edited prior to the new forum system that automatically indicates an edit at the bottom of the post. (no more stealth edits)FunKey wrote:I understand the original question as being about settings in menus, not program changes.

Re: Nightmare - the lack of increment and decrement buttons
To clarify:
- there were no problems with selecting programs,
- the dial wheel was totally unusable, loose and wobbly, couldn't change a single step once...
- the dial had just been replaced because of the same issue....they told me afterwards. The flight case was to blame I think...
- My complete backup, including ALL settings in one package (nsb - with pianosamples, programs, synth sounds...), did NOT set the midi channels or dual keyboard channels of the extern section. Nor the other settings in system, midi and extern menues. So this is really a weak point in the OS design. Hopefully, they will implement some keyboard combinations for changing values up or down.

3 - 4 times every year, or more ?arecio wrote:The dial wheels brakes very often.

I had my Nord Stage Compact Classic since 2006 until december 2011 - made 'bout 40 gis with it every year, and never had a problem with the dial wheel. Never had problem with the Nord Stage at all...If you have a good flight-case to transport the Nord Stage and take a little care of it, the Nord Stage is very reliable.
