FYI: Tech 21 Midi Mouse and NS2
I just purchased a Tech 21 Midi Mouse to control some guitar gear. Works perfect.
I thought I would hook it up to the NS2 and see how it works. Simple hook-up - midi out on midi mouse to midi in on the NS2. Made sure that the midi channel was set to channel 1 on the NS2.
The midi mouse has three switches: up, down, and active/search. The display goes from 1 to 128. At position 1 on the display, the NS2 goes to A1:1. Press the up switch and it goes immediately to A1:2 - just as expected. So I can go from A1:1 to A20:5 using the up and down switches (with both hands on the keyboard!). There are no bank changes or anything else sent to the NS2, so you can only use Bank A. The really cool thing about it is if you press the active/search switch, the display blinks. Now pressing the up or down switch allows you to find the next patch without actually going to it. When you are on the right number, press the active/search switch and it immediately changes to that patch.
All in all, it's pretty cool. Set it on the floor or on either end of the NS2.

This looks very cool and easy to use, especially the scroll feature. One question, if you power up the NS2 on Bank D, will the mouse then change patches within that Bank?
Thanks!

I tried that and it went directly back to Bank A. I didn't spend a lot of time with it.DJKeys wrote:This looks very cool and easy to use, especially the scroll feature. One question, if you power up the NS2 on Bank D, will the mouse then change patches within that Bank?

Ok. Maybe too late to answer-))
But I tried it with NordStage 2 and Midi Mouse.
NS powered on >>> Midi Mouse sends ProgChange >>> it automatically jumps to bank A.
BUT:
NS powered on >>> one bank select message sent (from other keyboard) >>> plug midimouse to ns midi in >>> send program change from midi mouse >>> it stays in that bank.
This is a way at least not to jump between different banks but to play one live set in bank A, the next in another bank just by sending one extra bank select change.

Re: FYI: Tech 21 Midi Mouse and NS2
Can it be configured to send the CC# instead of PC ?
If not, anyone knows which pedal product can send CC#? I have been looking for this.. Chan

Re: FYI: Tech 21 Midi Mouse and NS2
I think that for future reference and prospective buyers it might be useful to clarify a bit further.
Could you please test this:
With the Midimouse already connected, switch NS2 on.
Set a Bank with the Program Bank buttons (let's say C).
Send a Prg Chng with the Midimouse (let's say prog 10).
Where does that take you?
Does the NS2 stay in the bank C?
According to the update above it jumps to bank A, but changing the bank via Midi it stays?
Somehow it sounds a bit strange... If the MIDI mouse does not send a bank change, why does it jump to bank A?
It would be most useful to see with a MIDI monitor what is the actual message it sends out.
Thanks!

Re: FYI: Tech 21 Midi Mouse and NS2
Did anyone ever resolve the bank jump issue? For those of us whose programs aren't in Bank A it would be good to know before buying one (I also use D). The device sounds perfect to switch between patches, especially since you cannot have Vox and B3 organs in the same program, at least you can have them adjacent and use the up/down. Thanks.

Re: FYI: Tech 21 Midi Mouse and NS2
To change the Bank the Midi Mouse should be able to send the Bank Change MsB and LSB Midi Control Change messages, but it can't (it only sends Program Change messages), so there is no solution.jjfreedmannh wrote:Did anyone ever resolve the bank jump issue? Re: FYI: Tech 21 Midi Mouse and NS2
But if you have already manually selected Bank D with the program wheel, wouldn't a jump to Bank A imply there is indeed a Bank Change message being sent? If only Program Change were sent there should be no bank change, right? And then you'd expect to change from your current program to program # +1 (UP) or program # -1 (DOWN). So I'm not understanding the explanation.maxpiano wrote:To change the Bank the Midi Mouse should be able to send the Bank Change MsB and LSB Midi Control Change messages, but it can't (it only sends Program Change messages), so there is no solution.
