Nord Stage 2 Headphone Output Issues
Hi folks,
I recently just acquired a Nord stage 2 and its been an amazing instrument so far. The only problem is phase cancellation with my headphones on mono recorded samples (e-pianos, organ). I can also hear some of the sound come through with effects turned on.
I read on the forum that its caused by 1/4 jack to 3.5mm adapters but I've tried a couple of different quality ones with no success. I also tried an actual cable that has the two different ends and still get the same problem. Would this issue be caused by something internal? Or do yall have a recommendation for an adapter that has worked for you? I'm using Fidelio X2HR headphones, so the jack on there is 3.5mm. Thank you!

If I’m understanding your problem correctly, I don’t think it’s an adapter problem. Recorded samples? Your headphones should work fine for all of your factory programs. If you’re having issues with samples you have loaded, it’s likely that the samples are the problem.

Another thought to my other post…..
You bought the Nord used, did you by chance get the disks with it? If so, you might want to reload everything to factory settings. The previous owner may have accidentally messed things up.

There is no need for disks, you can download botth the latest OS and the factory restore bundle from Nord's website: https://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/nord-stage-2

Re: Nord Stage 2 Headphone Output Issues
Thanks for the replies everyone, the samples and sounds work fine when I use the main output for speakers or amps. I'll give the factory reset a try but I have a feeling there's something else going on.

You should also (re-)install the latest OS version just to have a real "fresh" state, although I don't think that the problem is caused by the OS

I agree. If everything sounds normal through the main outs, something else is wrong.Schorsch wrote:You should also (re-)install the latest OS version just to have a real "fresh" state, although I don't think that the problem is caused by the OS

Re: Nord Stage 2 Headphone Output Issues
Just restored it to factory and the issue still remains unfortunately. I opened it up to see that there was part of a broken jack in there so I removed it but nothing changed. I'm still getting the grand/upright sounds though so I'm really not sure what could be causing it. Any other recommendations on what to try?

Re: Nord Stage 2 Headphone Output Issues
If you have a mono sample and you apply the rotary effect or the chorus, or the autopan, do you hear that in stereo?
You claim to have 'phase cancellation' of a mono source as compared to what?

Re: Nord Stage 2 Headphone Output Issues
All those effects allow sound for the e-pianos and organs to pass through, but as soon as I turn them off it becomes silent again. I'm not too sure on the specifics but I read on the forum that its caused by parallel mono feeds, could be completely wrong though. Like the left and right channels are shorting I believe?
