I'm "newbees" in keyboard world and have one question (for the moment about the Nord Stage 2/2EX: are the synth settings (for example Amp attack, or Env decay...) effective only on the synth samples or on pianos samples to (pianos selected in the piano section)? if not, are the pianos samples working if they are moving on the synth library with the Nord Sound manager??
By advance thanks for your attention and your reply...

Ok, not so good news... Anyway, for example, if I record (audio .wav) the Grand piano wich is in the Piano library, sample it with Nord Sample Editor and then put it in the synth section, I assume I can now play with the synth settings? This make sens??...
yes, this is possible, but I doubt whether it is worth the efforts. The thing is that the piano section can handle samples in multilayer format which means that there are between 6 and 10 samples per note, varying only their soundnuances depending on the attack velocity. The synth section, as long as its sample handling is the same as in my nord electro 5, does not handle multilayers at all, so there‘s only one given soundnuance.
If you tried it, I would be curious to hear your results.
Cheers from Germany

Hello, and welcome to the Forum as well! It's likely that the NSMP piano samples at the link provided by Tasten-Bert will sound better than what one can create on their own, however I think it's worth the exercise to get used to the Nord Sample Editor. For a start and to save sample space, you could sample 3 notes per octave (for example C E and G#) with a consistent attack and holding each note for a long duration (you can adjust the final length with the Nord Sample Editor). Good luck to you!

OK thanks for your advises!!
My initial question was for help me in a decision: I already own an Electro 4D and I'm very happy with songs (pianos, synths...) but I'm disappointed about some limitations: firstly, you can split the keyboard only in the organ section, and one solution is to switch to a Stage model... Secondly, I want to explore the capability of synth to modeling sounds at my taste, on synths sample AND pianos samples With the stage option it seems to be not very flexible with pianos...
Well, maybe I can explore another solution: keep my Electro 4D for pianos samples and add a second hand Nord Wave (the one, no budget for Wave 2) wich make a natural kbd split and probably a cool tool for sound exploration, but if re-sample with audio step is "worth the effort", is there an option for link the 2 kbd with Midi, for "send" the piano sound from the Electro to the Wav?? This is my last question for today
I don‘t know the wave 1‘s MIDI capabilities resp. sockets but what I can say is if you link both keyboards with two standard MIDI cables (the 5 pin halfmoons) each keyboard gets access to the sounds of the other.
Cheers from Germany - and never mind if there occur more questions.

But the NE4D does not allow to have one section controlled by an external keyboard (except the Organ Lower manual), which is instead possible on NE5 and 6 and this is a limitation to keep in mind.
@Fred:just for clarity, with MIDI you don't "send a piano sound from the Electro to the Wav", MIDI transports keyboard commands (notes, pedals, controls) not audio.
So if you connect the Wave MIDI OUT to NE4 MIDI IN you can just "play NE4 sounds from the NW keyboard" (with the limitations stated above)

Mmmmmhh ok but does it mean that I can play the piano which is inside the Electro4 with the keyboard of the Wave AND change the sound with the Wave knobs? I assume the audio outputs are on the Wave??... It will be great ...
Ouups, I think I have the answer from Maxpiano ...
