Shifty Octave Bug GRRRrrrr!

I am having some weird behavior and my keyboard is acting up too:)

My Wave2 is set up as follows:

Local off

Global MIDI Ch. off

Layer MIDI Ch. A=11,B=12,C=13,D=14

Ableton Live 11 has 4 tracks set up to sequence on the previously mentioned channels. All armed.

When listening to a piano sample with octave shift at 0 every thing is fine; note C4 sounds a C4. However if I octave shift down -1 I would expect to hear C3 but I actually get C2! With local on I hear C3 & C2! This is quite perplexing and unusable in a performance scenario.

To confirm my own sanity and make sure both Ableton Live 9&11 were not introducing this undesirable behavior, I yanked the USB and hooked up an old school 5pin DIN MIDI cable from Wave2 Out to Wave2 In (one cable essentially plugging the keyboard into itself) and that confirms that the problem lies with the Nord. Same results with Local on (C3&C2) or Local off (C2)

If Global MIDI is on Ch. 2 and Layer Ch. ABCD are all off the octave shift works fine with Local off (USB or 5pin DIN)

Please help.

I tried to reproduce your problem. I also used my iridium, which can monitor midi signals. I sent midi to Ableton Live 11 from my Push2. On 4 armed midi tracks in live I sent midi out to 3 of my 4 Wave 2 channels and to my iridium on another channel. I was somewhat confused (normal for me) until I did an init on my Wave2 patch and my iridium patch. I had basic saws on all layers on both synths. I used Live's midi effect Pitch to do the shifting. Everything worked as I would expect it should. Does my wave 2 behave differently than your"s? I suggest you use a basic init program and try again.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for reply Chris! The scenario that you created is essentially Live being 4 midi controllers sending notes. My scenario was the Wave2 acting as 4 midi controllers sending information to Live which in turn would record this information and send it back to the 4 sound engines inside the Wave2. The thing that could potentially happen with certain external sequencers is a slight doubling or echo artifacts that come from the internal note message triggering sound and the external sequencer triggering the same notes again a few milliseconds later. This artifact is fixed by setting the midi to “local off” breaking the internal connection. So my work around is going to be hauling 3 extra midi controllers to my upcoming shows. This problem does not exist in other Nords. Midi implementation was amazing in the first Stage Classic and has gotten increasingly crippled or “simplified” in the NS2 and NS3.

What's your current setting of "Transpose MIDI At" parameter? If set to "OUT" that could be the cause, I think.
