Nord Lead 2x broken motherboard

Hi everyone,

I have a Nord Lead 2x that is in mint condition (stayed in studio, protected from dust, no scratches), however the motherboard is dead (makes strange sounds, freezes). I took it to the official repairer here in Australia and they sent the motherboard back to Sweden, but Clavia were unable to repair it. Everything else is, to my knowledge, in full working order.

So I guess I could sell the beautiful lifeless synth for parts, or try to find a beat up old one with a working main board. Does anyone on here have any suggestions? I'd hang it on the wall as decoration, but I think every time I look at it I would be reminded that it doesn't work and that would make me sad.

Many thanks!

Yes, as you suggested I think the best chance (if you can take the cost) is to get a used one and salvage it for parts: apart from the motherboard, you will also have a backup of any other component that may go wrong with the years.

Used ones which are in working condition are offered in the range of around $800 - $1200 (at least here in Germany) which is not little money. If you find one you might end up using this one from now on and keep your old Lead 2x as a spare part stock rather than disassembling both and replace the broken motherboard with the one of the "new-used" Lead 2x....

Hi, I’ve got a Lead 2X with just a damaged panel board. PM me and hopefully one of us can get a fully working synth - and the other will have some $ to spend on a new synth?

Hi, I'd be interested in getting parts from your unit. Mine has many problems and I need a new mother board and a Pitch Bend stick.
