Stage Digital Knobs Issues
Hi, is there a way to manually fix the digital knobs that control the Levels on piano, synth and Freq breadth broken / don't work smoothly. Is there anyway I can either replace or fix them?

Hi, that happens when the pot attached to that knob is dirty (needs cleaning, you can try to turn it fast full swing a few times as a first cleaning attempt) or, more likely, malfunctioning (internal track/cursor worn) and needs replacing; pots are 10K linear with pins pointing "up " i.e. parallel to the shaft, here an image from Italian Nord assistance and parts provider

It is not a common pin shape but with pliers and/or some soldering you may also try adapt a more standard "straight pins" one which is easier to find.
So, if you have some experience in DYI electronics you can do it yourself, otherwise better take your NS EX to an appropriate service workshop for a professional repair, that shouldn't cost much as it is relatively simple.

I'm not sure they are pots at all as their rotation is not limited. I believe the OP is talking about the rotary encoders used for organ, piano and synth volumes. Like on the Stage 3.maxpiano wrote:Hi, that happens when the pot attached to that knob is dirty
Or is the Stage 3 different?

You are right, I misread as he mentioned "Freq" and that made me think of pots (but Filter Freq is an encoder too)Elias wrote:I'm not sure they are pots at all as their rotation is not limited. Hey @Elias and @Max piano -- I do have some DIY experience with keyboards, but my Nord Ex is my baby, and I'm not a professional at soldering... far from it. I will take it into a professional, despite the cost, just to be sure. The knobs are the volume knob and the Freq. nob on the synth. The nord EX i've been using for 12 years, and I use the knobs live and in studio for swells, so i'm assuming the issue is coming from over usage. I'd prefer not to open the EX for fear of doing it wrong.
