Hi, I bought a Boss EV-30 to use as ctrl pedal.
I tried it at the store it worked on the Nord Stage 3 they had there.
On my stage 2 ex at home it's not working at all...
I changed every possible setting in "System > ctrl pedal type"
Not working.
wtf?
anything to try before I return it to the store??
Thank you

Are you using a stereo/TRS cable to connect the pedal to NS3 CtrlPed input (and if "yes" is the cable OK)?

Yes.
It's connected to the correct ctrl pedal input on my *NS2 ex, the cable is fine.
When I tap on the tip of the TRS cable the ctrl pedal screen under "system" shows some minor movement... So I know the cable and input is fine.
The pedal worked perfectly in the store on a NS3, why would it not work on a NS2ex?? Also Roland and Boss are basically same company there's no way it is techincally any different from the supported Roland pedal according to Nord website...
So werid....
Anybody have a fix before I return it?...

Hi,
some ideas: the pedal has a polarity switch, have you tried it in both settings?
Or do you have another keyboard that you could test the pedal with?
To exclude that the ctrl pedal socket of your stage 2ex doesnât work, can you check it in swell socket? For this you may need to change the systems settings.
Good luck and cheers from Germany

You certainly have morphable patches, right? There is nothing you can do with an expression pedal right out of the box - you need to program a morph for the pedal to have it change anything... Just to be sure it's not as simple as that.

+1, this is a key point: you need to have a CtrlPed Morph active and/or set CtrlPedal it as Swell (or connect it to the Swell input) and use the Organ to see something happening.
PS: as Tasten-bert said, check also the EV30's "polarity selector" is in the "NOR" position.

You need to turn control pedal to active mode
What does that mean? Turn it on how exactly?
It worked in the store on NS3 straight away when I connected it.
And to all those suggesting i didn't program a morph, I of course did, I'm understand how the thing is supposed to work.

No, there is nothing to "turn on". Just set a morph for the control pedal, and it's activated, of course. Otherwise I would be very surprised.

Have you tried the different pedal settings in the System Menu?
Not only Control Pedal Type which you mentioned, but also gain and function? The last thing I can think of, have you turned on the instrument with the pedal already connected, or have you plugged it in with the Stage already on? In the second case, it won't recognize it correctly.
Also the EV-30 has minimum settings and polarity switch for both expression outputs, have you tried regulating those controls? If the Minimum is set at max, the pedal will have little or no effect...
If nothing of this has any effect, something is wrong in hardware. Either the pedal, or the cable, or the pedal jack connector of your Stage.
You may test this by using a different TRS cable, if you have a spare one available, and/or by testing the pedal in the Swell connector. It will only work with the organ section of course, but at least it will tell you if the pedal/cable are functional.
For what is worth, a few years ago I also had the EV-30 and it worked normally with my Stage 2

I tried connecting a good cable to both Organ Swell and Ctrl Pedal, none work.
I find it hard to believe the pedal is not functional because it worked fine in the store.
It's highly unlikely both of my jacks (that have never before been used) are not functional...
This is so odd...
But all things seem to indicate the pedal was damaged upon delivery ( I was riding a bike, but with the box protecting it)
Or that there IS somehow a compatibility issue..
Thanks for trying to help...
