I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced this kind of problem and maybe even has heard of a solution. I cannot find anything in the manual concerning this.

I am really happy with the performance of my Electro 5 HP but one thing really annoys me.

When playing - for example - the sound under the A button and I want to switch to another one (B, C or D) the sound dissapears when I keep holding down the keys.
I need to lift my fingers from the keyboard before the new sound will appear.

This produces an unwanted hole in the music.
As I am going to play in some gigs in the near future this is really making it difficult for me to play continuously when changing from one sound to another.

I hope that someone will be able to help.

Hi, what you are looking for is called "seamless transition" and it is implemented on the Nord Electro 6, the NE5 has no way to do the same.

However, the Electro 5 is bitimbral, so you might be able to organize your programs in a way that (sorta) gets you there. For example, program A contains sounds 1 and 2 and program B contains sounds 3 and 4 - what you could do is create program C with sounds 1 and 3, then switch A to C and later C to B at points where you can hide it more easily.

Bitimbral but with 2 distinct sections (Organ and Piano/Synth), so if sounds 1 and 2 of your example are both using the Piano/Synth section (for example), there is no way to have them in a single program and even in the case where sound 1 is Organ and 2 is Piano/Synth, how would you practically have a seamless transition between them within the same program? If you switch off a section the notes you were still playing are not held, afaik.

Only exception are the 2 Organ Presets (which are on the same section and within the same Program), but they affect also the notes being played when you switch them (they just instantly apply preset settings on the Organ drawbars and other saved parameters)

That's why I wrote "sorta" and mentioned the need of multiple programs.

Program A: sounds 1&2
Program C: sounds 1&4
Program B: sounds 3&4

So switching from from A to C to B at appropriate points in time (which may not exist! depends on the song being played) could give you at least a fair chance to glide from sounds 1&2 to sounds 3&4 - make the switch during a chord change or something, begin with the first "new" sound and then do it again to get to the second "new" sound.

Of course, there is no seamless transition on an NE5, so the OP will have to lift his fingers, but that happens a lot during keyboard playing anyway. And of course this is just a patchy workaround. Nevertheless, I reckoned it was worth pointing out what might be possible.
