Hey folks, my band is looking to cover Ed Sheeran's new song Bad Habits. I've sort of got the plucking sound but I'm separately needing that "donk bass" sound on the left hand. Has any one made a sample of the track or could advise on the best way to recreate it.

I find that there are lots of interesting synth presets that can be used as starting points.
I'm no synthesis guru therefore I tweak many knobs and usually end up with something pretty close to what I want.

Pretty sure there must be some bass preset that can be customised to come close to this sound.

Hello, here's a sample you can use that I put together this morning using the synth bass I previously posted along with the upper guitars/pads. Having a guitar player playing along should fill it in nicely. In the mp3 I use Hall1 reverb and then turn it off when I move to playing the synth bass. I included a kick drum on the high C7 and above in case you want to use that. I hope this helps. Good luck to you!

Update March 26, 2022 - A different version if you'd like - this one includes a left-hand pad for chords and another pad added to the right-hand guitar. The samples are placed to also allow the guitar part to be played with both hands as well similar to my other sample. Reducing the highs by adjusting the FREQ or EQ with either sample can place it more in the background if you have guitarists also playing.
