Hey there

Has anyone noticed that the organ b3 sounds very different on the nord electro 6? It is supposed to be the exact same c2d engine.
It sounds much thinner not to say a bit harsh in oppose to the Hammond sound on my nord stage 3…would love to hear different opinions here.

They are based on the same engine but are not the exact same configuration, just like the synth in the NS3 is based on the A1, but they are not the same.

I noticed right away that the B3 on the E6 was different and less satisfying then the one on the E4, my previous Nord.

I'm not technical enough to determine why, but it's noticeable and disappointing. Of course, I've found that I much preferred the digital sliders to the "real" ones too. So I'm probably an outlier. The E6 has a lot of other features that are good enough to keep me from going back, but yeah, the B3 is weaker.

You might want to ask Clavia. It's certainly worth a shot.

Ha, has anyone here ever gotten a direct response from someone at Clavia on something like this?

(Long-distance Phone ringing, someone finally picks up)

Clavia: (In Swedisth) Clavia, may I help you?

Me: (in English) Uh, do you speak English?

Clavia: (In a heavily accented English). Yes, how can we help you?

Me: So...why is the B3 sound on the Electro 6 not as good as the one on the Electro 4?

Cllavia: What exactly do you mean?

Me Uh, I don't know, it just doesn't sound as good.

Clavia: Have you tried making some adjustments in the settings?

Me: Well, yeah, sort of. But it's just not as good no matter what I do.

Clavia: Our Electro 6 uses the latest technologies for B3 emulation. I think you'll find it very responsive to settings modifications to get the sound you are looking for.

Me: Uh-huh.

Clavia: If you are unsuccessful in getting what you want, have you considered returning the instrument?

Me: No. I bought it like a year ago.

Clavia: Well, we are sorry you are unhappy, but there's not much more we can suggest. You can always go to the Nord User Forum and seek help there. We have NOTHING to do with that forum, by the way.

Me: Yeah, ok.

Clavia: Is there anything else we can do for you?

Me: No. When's the next grand piano sample coming out, it's taking forever!

(Sound of line disconnecting.)

This indicates to me that it's very unlikely you've ever spoken English with a Swede before. I know you yourself speak multiple languages fluently, so you're in a position of strength here, but could you have picked a worse target for this disparagement? As for the rest, isn't the normal intention of a role play like this to make the other guy look like the idiot?

I’ve gotten email responses from Clavia, and from Guido the Italian VB3 guy before, and via email language isn’t a problem. You do need to be very precise about your issue with these guys though, certainly.
