Hi all,
Going to be covering this classic off of the Raised on Radio album and was wondering if anyone could help me breakdown what the piano sound used in the intro might be? Currently have a sin wave layered over a digital piano but it's not nearly as close as I'd like it to be. Any and all help greatly appreciated!

Given the year (86?) I would try a DX7 "Rhodes" sound without the bright tines - either applying EQ to the Nord piano sample of the DX7 or using a synth sample. Pairing that with a Yamaha CP80 electric grand should sound nice. A digital piano along with the DX7 Rhodes would sound good as well. Below is a sample you might want to try with light chorus applied and high EQ tapered back. Take care.

Sorry Spence895, "DX7 Rhodes" (posted by
ibljula) is much better for this song. Attached is the NSMP file along with a program for you covering the main song. Like the original recording, the acoustic piano (White Grand Large) is panned to the left and the DX7 (DX7 Rhodes Piano Sample) is panned to the right, and I added the DX7 synth sample across both. The program can be easily modified if you want to layer all of them rather than playing acoustic with left hand and Rhodes with right. A synth panel is left available for adding strings or monophonic synth for the short solo. Hopefully this will get you started - take care.
