Hello. I have Nord stage and nord piano and looking to buy a nord wave 2. Im more of a comping pianist, i sing and play together. My question is, reading about nord wave 2 i see you can layer until 4 sounds, is it possible to layer 4 dx7? Te be able to have a big electric piano? Putting some chorus and detune in each one?

Yes, you can layer any four tones you like, samples, analog wave forms, FM or a wavetable wave. I would recommend using one or two samples and then use a couple of layers of FM. After all, the DX sounds all started as FM-

Thanks for the response. So are the fm sounds downloadable/loadable or ill hace to create them? I dont know mucho about fm synthesis .

There "is FM inside" the NW2 (4 operators), but you have to configure it. There was a tutorial some time ago ... check out this tread, link at the very end for the latest version ... The tutorial is for the NS2, page 12 is FM, but should work for the NW2 too, and I used it on my NLA1.

Hi, sorry to say I find it quite strange that you, owning aNS3 and a NP4, are looking for a NW2 to get a "big electric piano". Just already with the NS3 you have 2 Piano sections (which can have 1 DX7 EP sample per slot and slot B can be detuned) + 2 Synth sections (with some FM + sample playback capabilities) to play with and 2x Effects sections (to put choruses etc..); if you are not able to get a good sound out of that and you say you are not an expert in programming synths, you won't find any better with NW2 (imho)

Agreed, unless they didn't include some other reasoning for wanting the Wave 2. Yes there are some DX7 sounding patches included in the Wave 2, but I don't know if it will be any more effective than what you can already build on the Stage...unless you still have the Stage 1 like me that has an awful synth section.

So as others have said, yes you can layer four synth engines at the same time. They even include a DX wave in the Wavetable section you can use. But if you want the wave 2, make sure you get it for it's other unique features like the expansive arpeggiator/pattern maker and the impulse morph.

Is the patch TEXAS NIGHT from this video doable in nord stage 3?

It should be, as it uses a single steel acoustic guitar sample with only one layer-

It is some sort of steel string sample. Many of them should work fine-
