How does organ swell work on the HP?

I’ve got a Yamaha FC4A pedal which works fine for piano sustain and will also switch between organ fast and slow. However, I can’t get organ swell to work (like the half-moon switch does on the 6D). Perhaps I need a Yamaha F7, or similar for this function to work.. can anyone help, please?

You would need an expression pedal. Like the FC-7 or other ones. There are some listed in the manual. In any case, they have to give continuous values - not only on and off. You can consult the Search feature on this forum ("expression pedal") to find multiple discussions on which would be the best.

Swell and half moon are mutually exclusive topics. Swell is (like) a volume control and requires an expression pedal. Half moon is a switch for toggling leslie rotor speeds. Your sustain pedal, with the right setting in the menu, can also be used to toggle leslie speed, instead of a half moon switch (as you discovered)
