What do you consider the best volume pedal? (For Organ)

The Yamaha FC7 is a sturdy piece, with quite a long-range physical workflow.
This gives quite accurate volume/morph-control.
Also the Roland/Boss EV5 is an OK option. It has a more narrow workflow though.
Personally I prefer the Roland-pedal because of its workflow angel. It is lighter though, and tends to move a bit during use.

I use the EV-5 but set my NS2 to “EV-7”; this gives a longer and more precise range imho.

For organ, I think the FC7 is the best because it's the pedal with the longest travel on the market (I think), so it aproximates well a real organ pedal, which has a much longer travel than the average guitar-style expression pedal.
Also, it's basically eternal. I've been using mine quite heavily for 10 years now, but I read reports of people with MUCH older FC7s that still work flawlessly.

For any other uses, I find the Moog EP-3 to be excellent: light, cheaper than FC7 or EV5, totally customizable (polarity, range) and with a detachable cable so you can substitute it if it fails, instead of replacing the whole pedal.

I also have an EV-5 and, like BrainFreeze, I had to set it in EV-7 mode to get the full range. So odd...
Time for Nord to revise those settings in the NS2 OS, I think.

When/if I had to buy another one, I will get an FC7 just because I guess it might work better in the MODX (for some reason the EV-5 is 'jumpy' in the MODX but not so in NS2. Strange, isn't it?)
I wonder if the Nords have some kind of a LPF on the expression input (thus filtering any transients in the potentiometer) and the MODX does not?).

If you read "volume pedal", it's not always good for use with a keyboard. There are two different ways to use a "volume" pedal with a keyboard:

a) plug it into to Swell pedal jack - there is no audio going through, it only provides variable resistance for swell regulation;
b) connect it to audio-out and let it directly control your volume output.
The result of both isn't exactly the same:

• (b) will lower everything, even the organ percussion, (a) will only affect the tonewheel sound.
• (a) will only affect the organ engine if not set from "swell" to "volume" - which would result in the same thing as a volume pedal in the audio out
• (b) would have to be stereo to be able to affect both 1 & 2 audio-out

That's why it's not very useful to buy a guitar volume pedal like the Dunlop DVP-4; you can either (a) use a keyboard expression pedal or (b) a stereo volume pedal.

For me it has always been important that the pedal is heavy for a solid standing on stage and that it has a poti to adjust its sensitivity. I ended up with a KORG XVP-20. This is a pedal that can do both ways FZiegler mentioned - all in stereo - and seems to be of good quality. I love it.

Cool I'll check that one out! I have to replace my Yamaha FC-7's every year unfortunately.

Replacing multiple FC7s every year? This is the first time I ever heard of reliability issues with them. What's the problem you have with them?
