Hi Everyone
I found a Nord Stage EX (76) for 1000 eur. This version was produced up until 2011, so it is at least 10 years old.
The seller claims that the instrument is in very good condition. Which of course I am planning on testing.

I was wondering was is the life expectancy of this piano. Could I expect to use it for 2 or 3 more years. I am just concern that I would invest this money in an instrument that would not function after some months.

Any help or tip would appreciated. Thanks!

I still have the Stage Classic (previous to the EX) and I am pretty convinced it will last for many more years!!

Yes, early Nords were built like tanks, of course it depends how it was used and cared for, but in general I wouldn't worry too much, especially if you have the chance to test it before buying.

just in case because this is a recurrent question here on the forum: I don't know if you're familiar with the Stage series, but the original Stage/Stage EX does NOT load samples from the Nord Sample Library. You will be able to use organ, pianos and synthesizer sounds. No strings, brass, etc.

double-check that the velocity works correctly on every single key. The most common issue with old Nords (and almost any other keyboard brand) is defective keyboard contacts due to dust, dirt or the conductive graphite pads wearing out. This will lead to either of these scenarios:
- a key only sounding at maximum velocity
- a key sounding only at minimum velocity
- a key not sounding at all (least likely option, as two contacts must have failed on the same key)

It is usually a fairly simple procedure to clean the contacts, but still it requires opening up the keyboard and disassembling the action.
