Hi,
while I am enjoying the piano samples on my Nord Stage 3, I do not for The Nord Wave 2 that I recently bought. I know it is not made for playing piano, but has anyone a good Piano sample that can be loaded on The Nord Wave2 or knows how to improve those from the sample library?
Best,
Niko

Actually there are a number of decent samples in the NW2 from the factory. The sounds will never compete with the Piano library, but they are certainly usable:

I have my wave 2 connected to my computer, so I use a midi to piano sound program if I want a good piano sound. XLN Audio's program Addictive Keys is the best in my opinion, but they all sound better than the Nord piano sounds I can make using the Nord piano samples. This seems surprising, considering that Nord is capable of making very good piano sounds, so I think it must be a marketing thing. After all, why buy a stage 3 and a wave 2 if the wave 2 was capable of great piano sounds?

Yes, they are different product lines, the NW2 is a Synthesizer and the Stage 3 is a Stage piano with synth capabilites. The difference in feature sets makes sense to me-

A nsmp sample is by far inferior to a npno file due to the lack of velocity layers. However, you can always cheat a little with the help of the W2 layers. You can assign different piano samples to each layer, or the same if you wish, and then tweak the settings of each layer (filter, eq, etc) then you can morph the amplitude of each layer inorder to achieve those variations. It will not be perfect realistic piano sound but at least there will be some motion.
PS. I am not sure if the W2 features velocity morphing like the original but if it does it would be great for this.

Yes, the W2 has velocity morph. I am working on getting some piano velocity layer sample sets to do exactly this.

Oh cool will you share them once you are done

Thanks for all the input. I know of course that they differ from the piano library samples. But still they could be better than those that are there currently.
