Sample Editor - default NSMP format?

I've hardly used my Nord Wave for years and now I've installed Nord Sample Editor 3.

To save me from setting up things the wrong way I wonder which to use in the config menu:
"DEFAULT NSMP FORMAT"

I can choose from NSMP2 and NSMP3.

The *.nsmp format should work for the original Wave, I think. In any case, you won't be able to use *.nsmp3. If ever you get a Wave 2, the Nord Sound Manager would convert the samples into *.nsmp3 automatically.

I seem to remember that there was an OS update that would allow using nsmp2 files.

Thanks! The update history says it was OS 2.02 where the compatibility with the Nord Sample Library was introduced.

OK, thanks. I also found the information in the online manual (but not in the pdf manual where I looked first):
