Nord Piano 2 Still good choice?

I'm able to buy a Nord Piano 2 HP.
My daughter will use it, but also serves as backup for my NS3.
Seems to be in a good shape.
I don't need 88 keys.
I know the Nord Piano Library and 500MB seems enough for some medium version piano's.

Still a good choice, what sounds like a good price?

For what purpose will your daughter use it?

If she's gonna learn to play on it just for fun, I would say it's okay, although it depends on what price are you able to get it for.

If she's going to a music school or she wants to play it for real, I would even consider buying other keyboard brand that will have more realistic piano feel. The closest Nord has came with a piano feel is with Nord Grand, but all of the Nord keyboards are some kind of a stage keyboard/piano/synth/organ... so in my opinion Nord is not made for a music school (professional) use, yet for a professional stage use (mostly).

There are plenty of users that have Nords sitting at home, and that's okay, but I think that Pianist should look for something that has more realistic piano feel (not the sound, sound is perfect).

I hope I helped somehow.

:D :D

All keyboards are a compromise, one way or the other. I have or have had many different, including both grand and upright real pianos and different makes. As a compromise, I actually think the NPs are quite nice to play and are good for acoustic pianos too. Yes, the NG clearly has an even more piano-like action, but the NP is quite similar to many of the other stage pianos I've played (and certainly better than some of them). Learning to play the piano can certainly be done on an NP; many young students are "forced" to play on inferior pianos, as far as I can tell.

Besides, I guess that the OP is familiar with the sound and feel of the Nord keyboards, and the NP2 is probably not going to be felt that much differently from the NS3, just maybe biased a bit more towards acoustic piano playing. But I'm more familiar with the NP4, so I'll let others with a NP2 to comment.

If I understand correctly, this is about a (used) Nord Piano 2 HP, i.e. with the HP action, also used in some Electros, and *not* the usual HA action present in most Nord Pianos. Did I get this right?

The HP action is, of all actions used by Clavia, the one I like least. Moreover, in my experience it gets rather noisy after a good deal of use. On stage in all the noise this may be of no consequence, but in a home environment it may be bothersome. At least check the instrument out carefully, and see in what state the action is, presently.

Of course, disregarding that, a Nord is always a wonderful board ;)

Sorry, i missed the HP part. My comments were applicable to the HA88 part.

Thanks for all the comments.

I see the pros:
Sticking to Nord will reduce the learning curve and benefit from the latest Samples. Also the NP2 will keep it's value more than a new stage piano.
My daughter is medium-skilled (getting slowly better than I am...) and is used to all kinds of actions.
She also plays on my stage 3 compact to rehearse.
The HP is smaller and fits better in her small room

Giving the age and noise of the keyboard, it might be wiser to get a recent board...
