I'M BACK

Hi Guys,
I've just spent 3 days going through the 17 pages of topics I didn't look at for the last 2 years...well, maybe one year and a host only but the story behind my "disappearance" from this forum is that, end of 2018, I started a new band, Funk/dance band, I think some of you were aware about it because I had posted our setlist in this forum.
So, starting everything from scratch, finding people who wants to practice and really build a show for corporates and wedding was not easy as well as convincing my wife to let me installed everything in the basement.
Then, because in 2019, after having tried several drummers, we had found finally a good one, I needed a drum kit, as he didn't have a spare one. The fact is, even if he was thinking to buy a very cheap one around 300 CAN$, I wanted to have a great sound even during our practices so, I decided to invest in drums.
I was a complete newbies so, I spent a lot of time on forum, mainly Drummerword and DrumForum. So, I was lucky to find from one of the contacts I had in looking for a drummer a very nice guy who is a collector and repairs himself drums in his workshop. I bought from him a vintage Tama Star drumset 1973 with 3 rack toms, one floor toms, a rack, and Hihat, 3 cymbals and accessoires...Cymbals Zildjian 70's made in Canada!!! In the factory that is Sabian nowadays...
But you know how crazy I may with gear...Adding that to the fact that I had taken 6 months of drums lessons when I was 15 in the 80's made me to found again in love with cymbals...they are crazy awesome special beasts and below is the result: So, in 2019, we practiced a lot and we were able to get two booths at the wedding show in January 2020, being the 1rst band in 30 years to be allowed to play live, it was a huge success, 750 contacts to deal with but, BUT...COVID!!! So, we had to stop practicing, doing it a bit when we were allowed in 2020 but since last October, we had to stop completely...so, I play my new toys during my breaks as I work for home as well since March 2020...But I'm still the keys player: That's it's now that I understand way better what is going on on drums forum, I will read and participate regularly again on this forum, Gearslutz and so on...Ha, and I placed all microphones in the drums, ready to record, via the Mackie Onyx 1640i that I had in the Den/Studio but...We are still waiting for the good to go from the health authorities here in Winnipeg. So, I was busy with music as usual, next plan is to build a movie from the recording we did at the wedding show for the website but I want to do the re-recording and overdub in the basement for instruments and in the studio for vocals...So, again, new projects...
AND....THAT'S ALL!!
