Roscoe Bass Guitar

Hey guys,

here is a bass sample I made. I am a bass player and sometimes do LH Bass on my Electro 6D so I wanted a better sample for my band. Recorded on the neck pickup only, I think it sounds more authentic than the Nord sample.

the older version (nsmp file) has a (E5) in the title to signify its for electro 5 and below :)

I'm really loving this sample, but on F#2 and G2, I hear a clicking sound. Is anyone else hearing what I'm hearing? If so, DCFanatic, is there any way of correcting this?

Yes, there is indeed a little clicking sound. I am ready to help to correct this if you, DCFanatic, could send me the Nord Sample Editor project file with the samples themselves.

Anyway, I'd like to thank you for this! It is my go-to bass sample whenever I need to play left hand bass. Sounds perfect in a mix, especially when ran through a bass amp.

Hi Scorps,
I actually helped DCFanatic to get his samples to work in the editor. If I remember correctly, the issue was that he didn't have any silent spaces between samples so the editor couldn't read it. I put the sample in Audacity and put spaces between each one and got it to work.
If you could get the little clicks out, that would be great! I'll send you the Sample Editor project in a privte message.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to send the file. It said I can't send a file with that extension. If you want to send me your email address in a private message, I can try to send it that way.

New Stage user here! Thanks for posting this sound. I'm really liking it at home. I play a lot of left-hand bass, so I'm looking forward to trying it out on a gig as I settle into which sounds I use.

I am noticing the clicks on those two notes and also that the volume is a little lower than the Nord samples (the Finger Bass ALB seems to be the closest tonally and is a bit louder). I'm wondering if anyone managed to fix those clicks and/or can point me in the direction of how I might be able to fix those and raise the gain a drop? Thanks!

Hello, and welcome to the Forum! As you have the sample loaded, it would be easy to create your own sample with Nord Sample Editor. I would create a WAV file of notes without any effects, letting each note sustain out and then leaving a silent gap between each note played. Using software like Audacity, you can normalize the file and/or individual notes, and also copy sampled notes and change the pitch to replace the ones with the "click" that you hear. Once imported into NSE you can bump up the gain a little further, but normalizing each with Audacity helps a lot. I typically sample every note, as you can decide later if you want less notes (for a smaller final sample) after importing the file into NSE. I hope this helps, good luck to you.
