Boss EV-30 Pedal - are there alternatives?

Hello,

I am using a Boss EV-30 dual expression pedal for organ swell at both my Stage 3 88 and my Stage 3 Compact simultaneously. It's working fine but the pedal itself it relatively small and the control range is therefore not that fine adjustable as from other pedals like the FV-500. I was looking to find other dual expression pedals which might be a bit larger than the EV-30 but was not successful yet - can someone let me know which other dual expression pedals are available at the market (if there are any) so I can check them out?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Schorsch,
first thing which attracted me is: I‘ve never had the idea of controlling two keyboards with one pedal simultaneously. That sounds good to me! Second thing is: I‘ve therefore never looked for a pedal with two expression sockets, so I have keine Ahnung. But third thing is: I have a Korg XVP20 which has one expression in/output plus the normal stereo line ins and outs. Wouldn‘t it be possible to use one line in- and outway with a cable, made of one TRS-jack at the keyboard end and two TR-jacks - perhaps with a modified circuitry - at the pedal end to achieve what you intend? I am curious. If you will be trying it, I‘d be glad to hear the results. Best regards from the middle of Germany

I'm not the biggest expert (this is probably more a subject for guitarists) but I think the only other pedal which lets you control expression (not volume) on two devices at the same time is the EHX Dual Expression.

What about using the External Section to achieve the same using 1 single EXP pedal (assuming the 2 Nord Stages are or can be connected via MIDI)?

Alternatively you perhaps could use a volume pedal connected to the key largo. It won't be organ swell technically, but the difference in the actual effect is rather subtle...

Hi all,
in another forum I‘ve just found this:

Even if the language is German, I think the picture is self-explaining. With a cable modified like this you seem to be able to use every other volume pedal resp. at least the low impedancy ones. Cheers

If you want a larger pedal, get two FC-7s (designed to be mounted on the sides) and screw a plate on top of them so they move together.

After rethinking my proposal from above I fear it won‘t work as there is only one poti inside the pedal, and if there come two signals at once it must get a mess. Or does anyone know better? Today really sunny regards from the middle of Germany. Mr. Blue Sky ...

It may work or not work and/or may cause a damage to one or both of the two connected devices, because they expect to have just a pot connected (to which they'd apply a voltage to read the cursor position), not another device trying to read the same pot (applying its own voltage, not necessarily the same)...
