Hey guys, just made a video of me covering Hymn to freedom by the great Oscar Peterson.

I actually used the keyscape piano for extra soft and sensitive velocity. Love the way this piano sound on a nord keybed.

I'll like to hear your thoughts.

Best regards, and take care

Very nice. Absolutely cool relation to drums. Must have taken some time to figure that out.

My aunt took lessons with Oscars sister Daisy in Montreal way back in the day. Daisy was Oscars first teacher, as their father (a CN Rail porter) could only afford one set of lessons.

Love Hymn To Freedom, nice job! My very first musical memory as a young child is that Night Train album. Classic.

Those are stories that I love. Thank you, D., for telling. I can only tell „a friend of mine knows Ian Paice“ or „another friend knows Jean Jacques Kravetz and Barbara Dennerlein“. I wish I had met one of the giants. About 30 years ago I had breakfast at an Helsinkian Hotel with the guitarist of Jerry Lee Lewis the day after I visited their intimate gig at the hotel bar. But no chance to get in contact with Jerry himself.

Well we're mentioning being friends with well known, or at least world class, musicians: my brother in law (well Ex BIL now but we're still friends and play together occasionally) is Tony Saunders. son of well known Bay Area B3 organist Merl Saunders (RIP) that played with Jerry Garcia in most of his outside projects from Grateful Dead since 1971 and were best of friends. Merl was well known in jazz circles, played with Miles Davis, Bonnie Raitt, B.B. King. Son Tony's first keyboard lesson was from family friend Herbie Hancock. Sly Stone gave him an organ when he was 10. He got into Bass when Tom Fogerty, John Fogerty's (both in Creedence Clearwater Revival) brother gave him a Fender Bass. He's played Bass with Stevie Wonder, Sly Stone. Jerry Garcia, David Crosby, Steve Stills, Eric Clapton, and Chaka Khan. Oh, he's won 2 Emmy Awards also. Good man, loves working and nurturing young musicians. I was good friends, and kind of dated Jim Campilongo's sister. Met Jim when I was a better guitar player than he decades ago. No longer, not even close. Mostly only guitar players know about Jim, one of the best Telecaster guitar players in the US. He plays with Norah Jones, who had some big pop hits here in the US a while ago. She's won 9 Grammy awards.
