Connect USB keyboard to NP4
Is there any way to plug a USB Midi keyboard (with mod wheels and pitch bend stick) into the NP4 and play the midi keyboard while using the samples from the NP4 including the mod wheel functions?

Re: Connect USB keyboard to NP4
Yes this should work in general, the USB port is capable of transmitting and receiving MIDI data. You of course have to make sure that the MIDI send channel of the USB midi keyboard matches the receive channel of the Nord Piano 4. What I’m not sure about is if external pitch bend and / or mod wheels can be used with the Nord Piano or if these will be ignored because the Nord Piano is not created for this.
There was a similar kind of discussion in the forum a couple of years ago for the Nord Electro 5D which is missing the pitch bend as well, and it was confirmed by Nord that it can be used with the pitch bend of an external midi keyboard so there is quite a chance that it may work with the Nord Piano as well - you can find this information in the 5th post of this thread:

You cannot connect 2 USB MIDI keyboards without a computer in between, discussed many times... (please search), but you can do that with a MIDI DIN equipped master

Re: Connect USB keyboard to NP4
I don't believe the NP4 will respond to Pitch Bend messages at all (I think the Electro 5 had this feature for the upper part in split keyboard mode). If your other keyboard has a programmable Mod Wheel MIDI output, then you could send the supported messages to the NP4:sussko wrote:Is there any way to plug a USB Midi keyboard (with mod wheels and pitch bend stick) into the NP4 and play the midi keyboard while using the samples from the NP4 including the mod wheel functions?
The manual is your friend, page 25:

Re: Connect USB keyboard to NP4
Something you can use to connect your USB midi keyboard to the MP4 is a USB midi host box like this one:maxpiano wrote:You cannot connect 2 USB MIDI keyboards without a computer in between, discussed many times... (please search), but you can do that with a MIDI DIN equipped master
https://miditech.de/en/portfolio/usb-midi-host/
https://www.thomann.de/de/miditech_usb_midi_host.htm
WIth this you can try if your NP4 makes use of pitch bend and modwheel messages coming from the midi keyboard, but the box works with class compliant midi keyboards only.
